Esta obra aborda o isolamento pela escassez - de pessoas, de recursos, de diversidade. Reflete sobre um caso particular, a aldeia da Casa Branca, parte do concelho de Montemor-o-Novo, um exemplo entre muitos de desertificação no interior do país. Criada devido à expansão da linha férrea, é uma aldeia operária fantasma onde, de quase 800 pessoas, hoje vivem menos de 70. Nos seus primórdios, a aldeia tinha na linha telefónica o único recurso de comunicação com o resto do mundo. Estes isoladores, parte integrante dos antigos postes de telefone, são um símbolo dessa comunicação mas também da história do desenvolvimento (e consequente paralisação) desta aldeia; foram encontrados, soterrados entre terra e entulho, durante as caminhadas que fui realizando pela aldeia.

This work addresses isolation due to scarcity - of people, resources, diversity. It reflects on a particular case, the village of Casa Branca, part of the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo, an example among many of desertification in the interior of the country. Created due to the expansion of the railway line, it is a ghost worker's village where, out of almost 800 people, today less than 70 live. In its early days, the village had the telephone line as the only means of communication with the rest of the world. These insulators, an integral part of the old telephone poles, are a symbol of that communication but also of the history of development (and consequent standstill) of this village; they were found, buried among earth and rubble, during the walks I took through the village.
